I'm currently working on a new newsletter of sorts, that will provide decorating tips by email. Well, those of you who already subscribe to Click!Decor-Kids may be asking what's so new about that?
What's new is, that it's going to be all out decorating tips on all kinds of decorating! Not just for the kid's rooms. I hope to have this up and running by the end of next month.
So check back for a link to register. And in the meantime, I'd love to hear what kinds of decorating challenges you are having, or what kinds of tips you'd like to see me cover. Just leave a comment to this post.
Some ideas to get you started thinking, might be how to apply wall murals, tips for custom window treatments, faux paint techniques, choosing colors, how to mix patterns, how to calculate yardage, to name a few.
Click! And decorate your kid's bedrooms. Tips and Hints for kid's bedroom decor, including where to find How-To information and places to shop online.

Child Safety
How safe is your home for your kids? It's a nice thought that you aren't going to child proof your home, because your kids need to learn to stay away from danger. But is all that yelling and screaming really worth it?
Check out my Child Safety page and BookMark it, because it has resources for performing CPR on babies and children, Pool safety, Poisoning information, child proofing your home and much more.
It could save a child's life. Go to the babysitter's checklist and print it out and write down the numbers to call for help.
You need to read it!

PVC for Curtain Rods
PVC pipe (yes the kind you buy in the plumbing dept at Lowes or Home Depot) is super cheap to use for curtain rods! When you're shopping for it keep in mind that when you see it is 1 1/2" pipe, they are referring to the "inside" measurement. Which means a 1 1/2" pvc pipe is actually almost 2" on the outside. So take your tape measure with you if size matters.
If your draperies will cover the whole rod, you don't need to do anything but clean it with a little vinegar to get the oil off of it. But if part of it will show, you should lightly sand it, wipe it down, and then spray paint it. Try some of that new Fusion paint just for plastic. *Other options would be to spray it with glue and cover it with fabric. I suppose a Contact Paper type treatment would work too, but that might be a little tricky to get on smoothly without a bunch of wrinkles. And you could always decoupage it.
I sprayed mine with BBQ Black spray paint which is a flat black. Then I sponged it with just a touch of metallic craft paint in gold, silver and copper. I used the large PVC pipe and then went to the fencing department and got round fence post finials to use for the finials, sanded them down and painted them to match. This size rod would have cost me a bunch of money if I made it from wood.
